#9: Thought Leading and Left leaning - Kingwa Kamencu on identity, alignment and purpose.

Kingwa Kamencu (Facebook) (Twitter) is a social and cultural commentator who uses her skill and industry to provoke thought and influence change; a pan Africanist, a writer, an actor and even a politician. She is the founder and manager of Blackstar Media, Kenya - a community of innovators, visionaries and dreamers who use media, marketing and communication tools to enable the African ecosystem to flourish - with a focus on Arts and Culture, Human Rights, Entrepreneurship and innovation. Most known for her controversial and often ballsy social media posts and well thought out and put together columns on local dailies and international journals, she holds graduate degrees in African Studies and creative writing from the University of Oxford, a degree in History and Literature from the University of Nairobi and first came into the national limelight in 2011 (at 27) after becoming the youngest female candidate to declare her candidacy in running for presidency in Kenya.
